ViewScan 4: See How the ST PerfectView Software Simplifies Microfilm Scanning

ST Imaging, a leader in the micrographic conversion industry, continues to set the standard of how people work with their microfilm collection. This week, the fifth generation digital microfilm scanner and fourth generation ViewScan will make its debut, the ViewScan 4. Attendees of the 2017 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference can receive a demo of the new scanner and software in booth 3935.

“Years of research and development went into the design and functionality of the new ViewScan 4. Inside holds new precision motors, custom LED light and up to an 18-megapixel color image sensor. But users will mostly see the change in our new ST PerfectView software,” says General Manager and Vice President of ST Imaging and nextScan, Bruce Rennecker. “We have designed the software to be approachable for new users, though, still familiar to those experienced with microfilm scanning.”

While the software may have a different look, the ST PerfectView has retained many of the features that have made the ViewScan line of microfilm scanners so popular. These elements include the Image Ribbon (formerly Image Bin), on-screen browsing, smooth browsing without pixelation or refreshing, and the many ways to share from a single scan (email, Cloud, and fulfilling interlibrary loans).

A revolutionary change of the ViewScan 4 is the on-board PC option. Just plug your monitor, keyboard and mouse into the unit and begin exploring your microfilm archive. In addition, because the ST PerfectView software supports a touch screen monitor, the mouse is actually optional.
