ST Imaging ViewScan Microfilm Scanner Can Now Be Used with Minolta, Canon, and Alos Carriers

— New conversion kit saves institutions over $1,000 by using existing carriers with STI’s ViewScan—

Northbrook IL, August 16, 2011 – ST Imaging (STI), a manufacturer and supplier of micrographics and book scanning technology, announces the availability of a new microfilm carrier conversion kit to adapt popular model microfilm carriers with the popular STI ViewScan microfilm scanner.

With many libraries experiencing restrictions on budgets and spending, STI provides libraries with a way to save money by reusing an existing film/fiche carrier, while updating to the latest technology in scanners through the use of STI’s new film scanner carrier conversion kit.  This kit allows the organization to adapt a Minolta UC7, Alos UC59, or Alos Canon CC900 carrier to work with STI’s advanced ViewScan scanner.  “By using STI’s kit to reuse its existing carriers, libraries can save over $1000 on the purchase of a new digital film and fiche scanner” says Dan Donaldson, director, imaging products for STI.  Donaldson added, “Library budgets are tight, so the ability to reuse a piece of equipment that they already own helps them do more with less while providing better services to their patrons.”

The ViewScan scanner is known for its ease of use and comprehensive features, allowing researchers to quickly find, enhance, crop, and save the image to a thumb drive, email account or file server, or to print out the scanned images.  STI’s local resellers also provide training and support to ensure the greatest return on investment over the life of the product.
