ST Imaging Introduces a New Line of Book Scanning Solutions

Cost-effective and easy to use self-serve solutions for libraries and organizations—

NORTHBROOK, IL, November 3, 2010 – Local manufacturer and International distributor ST Imaging, a division of Digital Check Corp., and a leading manufacturer and reseller of digital microfilm scanners, today announced a new partnership relationship with Plustek Technology Inc., a manufacturer of consumer, prosumer, professional and office imaging devices (including portable scanners, sheet fed/flat bed scanners, graphics scanners and IP cameras), to sell custom collection scanning solutions to libraries. These will include the ST BookScan Center™ and ST BookReader Center™ collection scanning solutions.

The ST ViewScan™ system is designed to allow library patrons and organizations the ability to easily view, print and capture microfilm images from the screen of a PC or kiosk in less than a minute.  “Plustek’s ST BookScan Center™ kiosks are the perfect complement to ST Imaging’s microfilm scan center solutions,” said Dan Donaldson, ST’s Director of Imaging Products. “Now ST Imaging can provide our customers book scanning solutions that mirror the key criteria for our film scanning solutions which include advanced technology, easy and intuitive use, high quality, low cost, fast performance, and compact size.” The plug and play system includes a PC and scanner, an intuitive touch screen interface, and preinstalled software.

“We are pleased to partner with one of the world’s leading library scanning solution providers,” said David Chen, vice president of Plustek. “Together we can deliver real value to libraries that, unlike copiers which damage book spines, preserves the book and improves the quality of the scan through our zero edge design.” The ST BookScan Center™ uses patented technology to deliver the fastest high resolution color flatbed book scans on the market.  And it does so at a fraction of the price for large overhead camera alternatives. This is the ideal walk up system for library users and can be set up for free scanning, or to allow libraries to charge for scans or prints.

In addition to the ST BookScan Center,™ ST Imaging and Plustek are also introducing the ST BookReader Center.™ The ST BookReader Center™ puts together a complete collection scanning solution for libraries that allows users to hear books read to them. It comes with an integrated PC and intuitive touch screen interface with one button operation, and features highly accurate OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and auto document orientation. This combination guarantees correct output for TTS (Text To Speech). The Book Reader transforms printed words into audio output which can be listened to during the scanning session, or saved in MP3 and other audio formats for archiving and later access.

These unique kiosk style solutions are available from select ST Imaging resellers in the USA and Canada. To find a reseller near you, to request an onsite demonstration, or for more information, visit their website at www.stimaging.com or email info@stimaging.com
